[MittleiderMethodGardening] Tomatoes Producing Fruit Through the Heat of the Southern Summer

Friends: Think your tomatoes can't produce during the hot summer months? Think again! Using The Mittleider system of growing you CAN grow, right through the hot summer! I just received this note from a Mittleider gardener living in Florida, and it's definitely worth reading:

"My wife and I live in West Central Florida. We have been gardening for years and where we live you have two growing seasons. We plant in February and September.

In years past tomatoes planted in February really start to struggle from the heat in June and by the Fourth of July they were always done. We had come to accept this as just normal for Florida.

I am always researching and looking for better growing systems and one day came across the Mittleider gardening course and I ordered the book. We had already adapted grow boxes and vertical growing. The thing that really stood out to us was the micro nutrients and the weekly feeding schedule. We ordered the micro nutrients and mixed up the fertilizer per recommended amount.

In February 2016 we started feeding weekly and the results were amazing. All of our plants grew faster and you could see that they were definitely healthier. The one plant that stood out the most was our tomatoes. The stems grew much sturdier than ever before. They grew to 7 feet tall and just kept producing all the way through the summer heat until the end of August when we took them down so we could start our September garden.

Our winter garden has been equally impressive. We are now looking for and finding ways to preserve the excess; because with the help of the Mittleider system our small garden is producing more than we can eat at one time. Sincerely, R & L J"
