Re: [MittleiderMethodGardening] Re: Time to Plan Your Garden! Some Helps & G...

We here in California and some other states including Arizona and Texas I believe have the Bagada But and it is driving the commercial growers crazy.  The Bagrada decended on us a few years ago from Africa.  It is very destructive and should it move to your state, you should call your local Ag department and get some help.  Once this little, tiny bug which loves cole crops gets entrnched in your soil,  you can't get rid of it.  So,  it loves Kale.  It also loves hot weather.  WE, at our Community Gardens, had to take drastic measures and ban Kale growing during the hot months of the year.  Bagrada hates  cool weather and rain.  Just a heads up everyone.  Go to You Tube and type in Bagrada Bug so you can learn about it.

And don't forget Kale!  We harvest kale all year long from the same plants.  This is one of the healthiest plants, and we eat it almost daily in one way or another including smoothies, salads, soups, and in sandwiches (replaces lettuce).
